Distalgesic is a brand name for Co-proxamol, also sold as Cosalgesic. It is a combination of two drugs - paracetamol and dextropropoxyphene. This results in a drug which is used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain. Dextropropoxyphene can interfere with breathing if taken to excess and overdose of paracetamol can cause irreversible damage to the liver and kidneys. Both the constituent drugs taken separately have a significant overdose potential and when together they represent a serious health risk if taken to overdose levels.
